Hi, I'm <\/em>Angie<\/em><\/strong> \u2014 a professional artist based near Brighton, UK, with a BA (Hons) from Edinburgh College of Art and a career stretching back to the <\/em>1980s<\/em><\/strong>.<\/em><\/p> My obsession with art-led clothing started in the <\/em>1970s<\/em><\/strong> during the punk explosion \u2014 a moment when what you wore was a statement, a provocation, a piece of culture in itself. We made our own.<\/em><\/strong> We wore old school shirts with slogans scrawled in marker, safety pins, chains, and paper clips. My very first \"tee\" was made from an <\/em>old candy-stripe pillowcase<\/em><\/strong> from our airing cupboard at home. I cut holes for the sleeves and neck, and adorned it with black lettering: <\/em>\"Oh Bondage Up Yours!\"<\/em><\/strong><\/p> Neither did the influence of my school art teacher, who introduced me to <\/em>Pop Art<\/em><\/strong> and showed me that everyday icons could be the subject of serious, powerful work. Those two threads \u2014 <\/em>punk attitude<\/em><\/strong> and <\/em>Pop Art sensibility<\/em><\/strong> \u2014 run through everything I make.<\/em><\/p> The Icons Series: <\/em><\/strong>This is where it all comes together. My <\/em>Icons<\/em><\/strong> collection features <\/em>original illustrations<\/em><\/strong>paying tribute to the legends who rewrote the rules: <\/em>Bowie, Jordan, Debbie Harry, Patti Smith<\/em><\/strong>, and more. Each design is created from scratch \u2014 <\/em>not a licensed print, not a photograph<\/em><\/strong>, but an original work that tries to capture something true about its subject. I draw them to honor the teachers who shaped my own path.<\/em><\/p> Future Collectibles: <\/em><\/strong>Vintage t-shirts from the 70s and 80s now command huge prices in galleries and auctions. I am creating <\/em>the vintage t-shirts of the future<\/em><\/strong>. These are not mass-produced souvenirs; they are limited, original artworks printed on high-quality, sustainable fabric.
